Mirie Litvak – Author and Translator

Her books Russian Women Sleep Naked, published by the   Sifriat Poalim publishing house; Sun Behind You, Longing for the Dark published by Hakibbutz Hameuchad; Onegin’s Love for Grandma Clara, published by the Carmel publishing house.

Mirie Litvak translated poetry and prose from the best of European literature.

She is the recipient of the Prime Minister’s prize.

In addition to authoring prose and translating poetry, I have enjoyed the opportunity to accompany various people along their personal journey of writing memoirs. I dedicate myself to this process, entering the storyteller’s inner soul, in the manner that a writer needs to familiarize herself with all her characters, to gain a full understanding of their stories.

My clients open their hearts to me, and it is through this funnel that their stories pour out to the readers, in a way that is rich, genuine, accurate, and remarkably powerful.

Longing for The Dark

Hakibbutz Hameuhad Publishing House, Israel.

Udi and Lonny meet on the beach after a routine week, and nothing has changed. Only a strange word here, a surprising glance there. And when Lonny goes home, it seems to him that something has been lost that he has failed to preserve some warm and important part of life.

Onegin’s Love for Grandma Clara

A Novel, Carmel Publishing House, Israel

Two years before his death, Father gave me an old, dusty cardboard box. “They are our love letters, mine and your mother’s,” he said. “Want them? Or should I throw them away?”

The Sun at My Back

Hakibbutz Hameuhad Publishing House, Israel.

Marianna Steinberg is leaving Paris, where rainclouds cover the sky like a protective, comforting duvet, exchanging them for the sharp, white sun of Tel Aviv, that shines cruelly on everything, exposing every wrinkle, every stain, every fold of skin.

Russian Women Sleep Naked

Sifriat Poalim Publishing House, Israel.

Mirie Litvak’s stories tell of the move from one culture to another. Like the author herself, her characters cross the narrow bridge between countries.
